All About Color #2

I love Winslow Homer’s watercolors of the tropics. He uses color in a magical way. He layers clear translucent aqua colors so that they sparkle, showing the water’s depths. Since I love water, it becomes especially magical to me. Those paintings give the water life. You long to be in it, feeling it, not just looking at it. The color also adds movement to the water.

In his paintings of the people in the villages, Homer makes you feel the heat of the day with his use of color and light.
